
The professor of the Master’s degree in Economic Policy and Public Economics has participated in the preparation of the report presented by the organisation Save the Children, which informs about the scholarship system in Spain and calls for its improvement.
Mauro Mediavilla has been part of the committee of experts for the review of scholarships in Spain that has advised the Save the Children Foundation. The report presented by the leading independent organisation in the defence of children’s rights, entitled “Scholarships so that no one is left behind”, analyses the current system of scholarships and grants and points out the need for changes and improvements to help offset inequalities and school dropout, which in Spain stands at 18.3%, the second highest rate in the EU.
Mauro Mediavilla is a professor in the Department of Applied Economics at the Universitat de València, research associate at the Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB) and member of the research group on Public Economic Evaluation (EVALPUB). He has been a consultant at the Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (UNESCO), adviser in the Prometeo programme of the government of Ecuador and in the Spending Review project for Spain (Airef). He has more than 60 publications in indexed journals, books and books chapters.
