Goals

It is intended that the graduates entering the Master’s degree acquire advanced knowledge in perinatal and child psychology and psychopathology in their clinical-practical, theoretical and scientific aspects in a multidisciplinary context with specialists who integrate physical and mental health.

The theoretical-clinical objective of this Master’s degree, based on an interdisciplinary teaching model that allows specialists to share their professional experiences, is about proposing models for prevention and therapeutic intervention for the various professionals involved in the care of the child and his/her family, from the time of conception and throughout childhood. The professors comprising the team are experts in different disciplines and come from different countries and universities in the European Community and Switzerland.

In short, the main goals of the Master’s degree in Perinatal and Child Psychology and Psychopathology are:

  1. Applying ethical and moral principles and concepts and theoretical and practical models in the field of Perinatal and Child Psychology and Psychopathology, from a professional perspective of innovative and transdisciplinary intervention.
  2. Knowing the psychological and psychobiological principles of functioning of human as individual and groups, in the family, school, health and social spheres, from the centrality of the dynamics of the child's interaction with his/her environment from the perinatal period.
  3. Knowing the methods of evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in the field of perinatal and child psychology and psychopathology applicable from various professional and competency-based areas.

This Master’s degree is open to students from different disciplines related to the area of health and promotes equal opportunities between men and women and accessibility for people with disabilities.
