El grup de Taxonomia, Filogènia i Diversitat de la Societat Espanyola de Microbiologia celebra la seua XXI Reunió biennal els dies 24 a 26 de setembre. L'emplaçament de les sessions científiques serà l'Auditori Joan Plaça del Jardí Botànic i l'organització de l'esdeveniment està a càrrec de diversos professors del Departament de Microbiologia i Ecologia de la Facultat de Ciències Biològiques de la Universitat de València.

The meeting will feature a total of four plenary lectures and 26 short talks. The program offers great thematic diversity and interdisciplinary scope; while prokaryotes are the most represented group, there are also presentations on viruses and eukaryotic microorganisms. The environments studied range from various aquatic systems, soils, plants, and foods to animals. These include extreme environments as well as anthropogenic ones, such as hospital settings and wastewater. Topics cover ecological studies, food safety, identification and preservation techniques, classification, and nomenclature. Naturally, "omics" technologies and bioinformatics also feature prominently in many of the presentations.

The closing lecture will be delivered by Cristina Galisteo, winner of the award for the best doctoral thesis of the 2024–2025 period. Additionally, three awards for the best oral presentations by predoctoral students will be announced during the congress; these are sponsored by the Taxonomy, Phylogeny, and Diversity Specialist Group, the American Society for Microbiology, and the International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology.

The only previous time this meeting was held in Valencia was in 1994, for its sixth edition.
