
Doctor Teresa Gárate participated in the Master’s Degree in Tropical Parasitic Diseases of the Univesitat de València with the conference “Taeniasis/ Cysticercosis”, as a part of the module of Helminthiasis and Medical Entomology.

This is not the first time the Doctor participates in the training activities of our Master’s degree, she has previously given conferences and classes such as the “Diagnóstico de enfermedades parasitarias tropicales en el Centro de Referencia Carlos III" and collaborated with the Human Parasitic Disease Unit of the UV, part of the Red Española de Investigación Cooperativa en Enfermedades Tropicales (RICET).
Gárate is Head of Section of the Parasitology Service of the National Centre of Microbiology of the Institute of Health Carlos III, since 2003. Her research lines focus on Helminthology, diagnosis, vaccines and control, highlighting her extensive experience in Taeniasis/ Cysticercosis.
Concretely, doctor Gárate has been main researcher in several national and international projects and is the author of a large number of scientific publications with impact factor on the best magazines of Tropical Medicine and International Health, as well as of different patents of the field of human parasitic diseases diagnosis.
It is noteworthy her participation in national, European and Latin American research groups included in stable structures of cooperative cooperation related with Taeniasis/ Cysticercosis.
Collaborations of professionals such as Doctor Teresa Gárate provide a plus of interest to our training offer and contribute to the development of the Master’s degree, directed by the professors Santiago Mas-Coma and María Adela Valero.
As a consequence of the international prestige and recognition reached due to the several activities carried out and their diffusion, it should be highlighted the amount of young researchers attracted by the Master’s Degree in Tropical Parasitic Diseases organised annually by the Human Parasitic Disease Unit of the UV, as well as the presence of foreign students that come to the centre for short periods of technique training or for longer research practices for the obtaining of the Doctor title.
