Manuel Fresno (1952) is Full University Professor of Microbiology and Head of the research group of immune activation in the Centre of Molecular Biology (CBMSO) of the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) and the CSIC.
He was for four years the director of this Centre, which includes more than 800 people registered in more than 70 research groups of 5 departments. After he obtained his PhD in Biochemistry in 1977 in the UAM, he moved to the United States where he was an assistant professor in the Department of Pathology of the Harvard University, Boston.
He has also been Director of the Institute of Molecular Biology and of the Department of Molecular Biology, both of the UAM. Since 2010 he is founder and Scientific Director of Diomune, a Pharma Biotech PYME.
