She made two postdoctoral stays in Computacional chemistry and Molecular Modelling: the first one in the Imperial College (1998-2000) and the second one in the University of Alcalá (2000-2003). In 2004 she was incorporated to the Universidad CEU San Pablo as a researcher “Ramón y Cajal” where she carried out the post of assistant professor in 2008 and associate professor in 2011. She joined the CSIC as a scientific in June 2014.

Sonsoles leads the Computational Biology Chemistry team since 2012. Her research interests focus on the connection between Chemistry and Biology. Her team applies Molecular Modelling and Computational Chemistry to the understanding of the interactions linking-receiver and significant molecular recognition processes for the design of drugs and biological probes. Moreover, its team combines these researches with structural and biological studies in a multidisciplinary and inclusive approach.
