Comença el curs d’UNISOCIETAT en 10 municipis valencians

Alzira, Benetússer, Cullera, Gandia, l’Eliana, Massamagrell, Ontinyent, Paterna, Quart de Poblet and Requena are some of the towns which currently take part in UNISOCIETAT, a programme of the Universitat de València. Besides, some conferences will also take place in Buñol and Bétera, which will become headquarters of UNISOCIETAT from next academic year 2018-2019.

The UNISOCIETAT program develops the principles of training along life in the Valencian territory. Last 25th September, Ontinyent was the first headquarter of the UNISOCIETAT programme which started the lessons and since then the 9 remaining headquarters have done the same with their formative itineraries for citizens aged over 30 who want to continue their training. Currently, UNISOCIETAT holds 1.500 students enrolled and counts on the participation of more than 250 teachers and researchers of the Universitat de València which teach a wide range of subjects like psychology, economy, health, cultural heritage, biology, sociology or literature.

The UNISOCIETAT programme is taught through a multidisciplinary itinerary of three academic courses, with four subjects per year; or the modality of UNISOCIETAT PLUS, with four modules per course renewed annually at the request of students. The teaching hours are complemented by trips and additional activities which will allow them to know some sectors of the Valencian territory.

In addition to the academic course, an open cycle of lectures is offered to the general public in the 10 towns that host UNISOCIETAT. So that once a month both the students of the program and the rest of the local society have the opportunity to expand their knowledge on various subjects through about a hundred lectures given by professors of the Universitat de València. This cycle of lectures is extended this academic year to Buñol (Hoya de Buñol-Chiva) and Bétera (Camp del Túria) since both towns will join the programme from the next academic year 2018/2019.

This lifelong education project, promoted by the Office of the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Participation, offers the inhabitants of l'Horta, Ribera Alta, Ribera Baixa, Turia Camp, Hoya de Buñol-Chiva, Utiel-Requena Meseta, Vall d'Albaida and la Safor, the opportunity to expand their knowledge in their region. It also promotes the introduction of UV in the Valencian territory and encourages the participation of UV teachers in society. The Unisocietat programme counts on the sponsorship of Caixa Popular (in 8 headquarters), Caixa Ontinyent (in the Ontinyent headquarters) and Banco Santander (in Gandia headquarters). The logistics of the UNISOCIETAT program is developed through the Support Unit of the Office of the Vice-Principal and local technicians.
