The Department of Organic Chemistry at the University of Valencia wishes to express its support for the strike by teaching staff in the Valencian public education system.

The Departmental Council for Organic Chemistry, which held an emergency meeting yesterday, 2 June, expressed its support for the strike by teachers in the Valencian public education system by approving, by a majority vote, a document urging the Regional Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities and the other relevant bodies to “address the demands seriously and with empathy” as well as to “provide the public education system with the necessary funding and institutional support”.

The text also invites the other departments, faculties and university research institutes of the University of Valencia to endorse this statement and calls for the intervention of the highest-level management bodies of our institution.

The statement concludes by emphasising the need for a high-quality public education system to guarantee real equality of opportunity for all.
