The Department of Organic Chemistry was created by the the University of Valencia on July 7th 1986 and was constituted on September 22th 1986 .

At that moment the Department of Organic Chemistry was integrated by the teachers of the former Departments of Organic Chemistry of the Faculty of Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy and Castellón's University College, all of them assigned to the area of knowledge of Organic Chemistry.

In October, 1991 the segregation of the Department of Organic Chemistry of the University Jaume I of Castellon took place.
