The Campuses of International Excellence ANDALUCIA TECH and VLC/CAMPUS present the initiative “California Spain Campus” in the University of California at Berkeley

The Campuses of International Excellence VLC/CAMPUS (composed of the UV, UPV and the Spanish National Research Council) and ANDALUCIA TECH (promoted by the universities of Seville and Malaga), present the initiative California Spain Campus that born with the purpose of adding value to the joint activities with the University of California at Berkeley provided in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in 2013.

This initiative, while being a strong and stable link with the University of Berkeley in California, also is the first link in Spain between two campuses of excellence for the development of online activities.

Next 19 and 20 November the workshop “Spain Global Entrepreneurship”, which will serve for presenting publicly the project, will be held. This event will focus on entrepreneurship, research, innovation and transfer of knowledge. On 19 November, the Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology of the University of Berkeley will host the conference “European Entrepreneur Ecosystem Development” in which the General Secretary of Universities of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, Federico Morán Abad, will present the programme Campus of International Excellence in Spain and J. Miguel Villas -Boas, Professor of the Hass School of Business will give a lecture on “Branding and Princing Strategies in the Digital Economy”.

Furthermore, on 20 November, the headquarters of Google in Silicon Valley will host the celebration “Spain Global Technology Leadership” with the lectures by Bran Bout, director of Google for Education and by Pilar Manchón, founder of INDISYS.

In both sessions, entrepreneurs from the universities promoters of VLC/CAMPUS and ANDALUCIA TECH, who will share their experiences with the attendees, will participate.

As a part of the initiative California Spain Campus a mobility programme of the two Campuses of International Excellence has been developed through four specific calls for research stays that have allowed 42 researchers (8 from the University of Seville, 16 of the University of Malaga, 12 of the UV and 6 of the UPV) to intensify their research activity through the exchange and updating of knowledge and scientific information.
