Graduates in English Studies will be able to develop their professional careers in different fields, such as teaching the English language in areas such as compulsory secondary education, as well as university education; working as translators and language consultants; developing teaching materials and cultural management, as well as getting into research, mainly through master's and third cycle courses.

With regard to English language teaching, the Bachelor's Degree in English Studies provides access to the Master's Degree in Secondary Education, specializing in English. In this program, students are familiarized with the curriculum, programming and evaluation of Secondary Education and are provided with the necessary psycho-pedagogical and didactic knowledge. After completing this master's degree, the Graduate in English Studies is qualified to teach English in the field of secondary education, both in public and private or subsidized centres. In addition, they can access formal and non-formal education in Official Language Schools, University Language Institutes, Academies, Popular Universities, or teach Summer Courses, among others.

As to translation and linguistic consulting, graduates in English Studies can work in educational centres and public institutions as translators and linguistic consultants in the commercial, administrative, legal and technical fields. In addition, they can be part of private companies in foreign trade and tourism, which need people with perfect competence in English and advanced knowledge of other languages such as French or German. Some of the most common positions in the field of foreign trade and tourism would be, for example, tourist guides or entertainers, commercial and administrative technicians in import/export companies.

As for the development of teaching materials and cultural and library management, graduates in English Studies can work in the creation of manuals for classroom and virtual teaching of English in publishing houses or related companies, as well as in the creation of materials related to tourism (brochures, guides, among others). On the other hand, they can form part of teams for cultural management in public (public administrations and city councils, for example) and private (foundations, banks, companies) organizations, as well as manage and advise in the field of documentation, archives and libraries.

Graduates in English Studies can engage in research in theoretical and applied linguistics, research on the relationship between linguistics and science and technology, linguistic and literary methodologies for language and literature teaching, as well as research and knowledge transfer in interdisciplinary research groups in related fields.

Finally, considering that the BA Degree in English Studies allows a combination with other degrees (as minors), this opens the range of options they have both in professions such as those indicated above, as well as in private companies where multilingual and multicultural knowledge and mediation are required. Moreover, being able to enter a variety of non-philological master's degrees enables them to work in even broader professional areas.
