The 2022-2026 cohort of the Degree in Information and Documentation at the Universitat de València celebrated its graduation by highlighting the professional opportunities offered by the field and the importance of libraries, archives, documentary heritage, digital content and information management in a society shaped by information overload

During the ceremony, class representative Paula Medrano Máñez emphasised the close-knit nature of a group that, despite its small size, experienced an intense and truly unique university journey. She recalled that the students began this stage in 2022 with uncertainties about the future, but are now graduating convinced that they have been trained in a discipline with broad professional prospects and enormous social value.

Beyond libraries, archives and documentation centres, the graduating class discovered professional fields related to business strategy, web content management, the preservation of documentary and audiovisual heritage, and information management in a wide range of organisations and institutions. This reality broadens the career opportunities available to those entering the labour market or continuing with specialised studies.

The ceremony also featured remarks by the Degree Coordinator, Máxima Bolaños Pizarro, who encouraged students to continue moving forward with rigour, curiosity and critical thinking, reminding them that learning and professional growth do not end with graduation (see the coordinator’s full speech).

The class sponsor, Adolfo Alonso Arroyo, invited graduates to face the future with optimism, confidence and adaptability, stressing that the knowledge acquired throughout these years provides a solid foundation on which to build new professional and personal paths (see the sponsor’s full speech).

The event concluded with words of gratitude for the teaching staff, Faculty personnel and families who supported the students throughout this stage. The new graduates now leave the classroom with a sense of accomplishment and with the responsibility of demonstrating that, in a world saturated with data, information and content, the ability to organise, preserve and transform information into knowledge is one of the most valuable skills of our time.
