Funding of the Data Spaces Kit

The Municipios ODS platform invites entities to join one of its Sustainable Cities data spaces and apply for the Data Spaces Kit promoted by Red.es and subsidized with European Next Generation EU funds, which will make it possible to finance participation with up to 50.000 euros in non-repayable funds per membership. Filling out the expression of interest form managed by Kiwa Spain below will speed up the process when the call for applications opens, which is expected to take place in October 2025.

A data space is a collaborative and secure environment where participating entities can organize, integrate, and analyze existing information on mobility, health, air quality, territorial inequality, and security in order to make more effective decisions that are aligned with their local challenges.

Participating in one of these spaces will enable these entities to identify critical issues or inequalities objectively, prioritize interventions and investments based on technical evidence, evaluate the real impact of their public policies, move toward certifications in sustainability and local governance, and strengthen transparency and data-driven decision-making.

It will be possible to receive up to 50.000 euros in non-repayable funding for advanced membership as a data provider in the case of public administrations, and up to 25.000 euros for membership as a participant. Private entities will receive up to 30.000 euros for advanced membership as a data provider, or up to 15.000 euros for membership as a participant.

The Kiwa Spain expression of interest form can be found here: https://forms.gle/HP2JsPxFRz2o4Gig7

The funding will cover digital diagnosis and assessment of local needs, technical connection to the data space, design and development of a specific use case tailored to the entity's reality, technical support, legal advice and personalized support, and complete management of the aid and justification before the administration.

To be eligible, it is necessary to have been actively engaged in economic activity for at least six months, be up to date with tax and social security payments, and be a legal entity. In this regard, self-employed individuals, joint ventures, and joint property entities are not eligible to participate.

In the case of public administrations, they must be registered in the Inventory of Public Sector Entities if public participation exceeds 50%.

In addition, interested entities must formalize their membership in the data space and comply with the technical and legal steps established by Red.es. The call for applications is scheduled for October 2025 and will be conducted exclusively online through the Red.es electronic site. The documentation will include automated forms and affidavits that will allow for simplified processing.
