The Chair of Intelligent and Sustainable Territories participated in the presentation of the results of the “Connecta” projects carried out by the Provincial Council of Valencia to the civil servants of the Rincón de Ademuz and Serranía regions on November 28th and 29th to inform them of the new tools available for the management of information about the municipalities. This activity is part of the objective of the chair to promote digital transformation in the rural environment, encouraging the development and implementation of technological and sustainable solutions, favouring the competitiveness and innovation of the business network of the territory.

The initiatives promoted include Connecta-DIVAL and Connecta Comercio Rural. The first is a platform that integrates data from the network of sensors deployed in the municipalities of the province of Valencia, processes them and offers them to citizens through different channels. The sensors capture information on meteorology, such as temperature, humidity and wind, air quality, noise, mobility, parking availability and water consumption.

They also record water consumption and energy production from solar panels. Concentrating the available information in a single portal is one of the advantages of Connecta-DIVAL, as well as the use of a common exchange format.

The main focus of the session was on the Connecta Comercio Rural platform that the Provincial Council, through the company Telefónica, is going to implement in the coming months in the regions of Rincón de Ademuz and Serranía. The main objective of this platform is to revitalise and strengthen rural commerce in areas of the province at risk of depopulation.

The service works through a mobile application that will have a version for citizens and another for businesses, and will allow the digital wallet to be managed and payments to be made in local businesses. At the end of the session, a round table was set up where the representatives of the local councils of the different counties gave their comments on the implementation of this tool.
