The ARBIT project holds a consortium meeting on 18, 19 and 20 May at the IRTIC facilities to discuss its status and provide specific training on augmented reality. In this way, the participating teachers will be able to carry out a research on how to improve the knowledge of body schema, pointing and imitation in children with autism after learning about practical examples. After this phase, they will use the virtual tool Pictogram that will allow them to use certain games with the aim of learning to know their body, to learn to point and to reproduce gestures.

This is an Erasmus+ action aimed at adapting and customising the augmented reality tool called Pictogram Room so that it can be used by pupils from the three participating schools. It also aims to define protocols for this adaptation that can be replicated in other places and to carry out a research study to check its effectiveness in training these pupils in body awareness, pointing and imitation.

Likewise, the initiative includes the development of training materials for teachers and the production of a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) to improve their competences in the field of imitation and autism through the use of AR technologies.

The ARTEC group of the institute coordinates the initiative, in which the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes from France; Fundación Adapta, Autismo Ávila, CFIE Ávila and Federación Autismo Castilla y León from Spain; Dirección Provincial de Educación de Konya and Karatay Özel Eğitim Uygulama Okulu III - Kademe from Turkey; and Association Autism from Bulgaria participate.
