BLED-V2I has been included among the proposals selected for funding under the 2025 Public-Private Collaboration Projects call of Spain's State Research Agency (AEI). The initiative, with a combined budget of close to one million euros, is led by ADN Mobile Solutions / Bledsystem and brings together INTRAS and the Institute of Biomechanics of Valencia (IBV).
The project is developing a cloud-based system that categorises the condition of road infrastructure using large-scale telemetry data from connected vehicle fleets. The tool identifies the level of driving risk in real time on homogeneous road segments of under 500 metres, with the aim of supporting decisions to reduce road accidents and to guide investment in road maintenance.
Within the consortium, INTRAS leads the development of the data-driven statistical models and the VAR causal inference framework, both built on real-world driving data. This work underpins the analysis of the relationships between road characteristics and driver behaviour that the risk categorisation system relies on.
The proposal comes at a time when the growing availability of data from connected vehicles is opening up new ways to manage road infrastructure at a level of detail that has so far been out of reach for network operators.
