On January 24, 2020, the first meeting was held between the University of Valencia, the Central Eastern University (UCE) of the Dominican Republic and the tourist company Grupo Punta Cana.
The inaugural conference was attended by the Vice Chancellor for Internationalization and Cooperation, Carles Padilla; the Rector of the Eastern Central University of the Dominican Republic, José Hazim; the Senior Vice President of the Puntacana Group and General Director of the Punta Cana Airport, Frank Elías Rainieri, and the Director of the University Research Institute on Traffic and Road Safety (INTRAS) of the University of Valencia, Francisco Alonso. The Rector of the University of Valencia, Mª Vicenta Mestre, has been able to be present through a video that has been issued at the beginning of the conference.
Vice Chancellor Carles Padilla thanked the Director of INTRAS Francisco Alonso for his work to strengthen the relationship between the University of Valencia and the Eastern Central University. In addition, Padilla has highlighted "the importance of joint collaboration between public administration, private companies and the academic world for the common benefit of society.”
