The INTRAS’ Director, Dr. Francisco Alonso, has taken part at the experts’ Seminar of the Drug Driving Project, which has been held in Brussels on 7 October 2016, organised by the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC)
The Drug Driving Project aims to increase awareness in the EU, national political leaders, private sector, as well as in some opinion leaders in order to reduce drug use on road transport.
A part of this project is preparing a guidance document that will provide a better comprehension of drugs-driving through the coverage of EU.
The aim of this meeting was to discuss the different points of this document, which includes:
- The prevalence of drug using in driving
- The effects of the drugs on the risk of collision
- Identify the countermeasures that have been proved efficient regarding the decrease of the driving under the influence of drugs in the EU
- Specific recommendations for actions in EU, national and enterprise level.
