The UEG ends with a positive balance both in training courses and programmed open activities. The two exhibitions that were inaugurated at the beginning of the edition will be able to be visited until September.

The 42nd Summer University of Gandia (UEG) has been developed, under the motto ‘Vulnerability and Resistance’, in the capital of La Safor with a complete programming that included 14 courses and a series of open activities. In total, a hundred professors, both from the Universitat de València and the rest of Spanish universities, have gone through the rooms of the International Centre of Gandia with an attendance of more than 300 inscribed people in the courses.

This year, and as it happened in the last edition, the courses of the UEG have been result of a public call to all the UV community. A call, in words of the director of the CIG-UVCarme Melo, that “aims to turn this summer date in a display of a wide range of knowledge that conforms our University”.

This way, courses related to the four branches of knowledge have been offered: Humanities, Social and Juridical Sciences, Health Sciences, and Physics and Engineering. All of them informative seminars for the general public. Specialised courses for postgraduate students, doctoral students and research staff, as well as professional guidance and refresher courses for various groups have also been incorporated.

As for the open activities, both the afternoon debates and conferences and the night activities have had great success in critic and public for which “we congratulate ourselves for the done programme and we thank the citizenship for almost daily filling the Assembly Hall and the Jardín”, says Melo. In this sense, from the Universitat de València we highlight the support that the Summer University receives always from the staff of the Department of Culture of the City Council of Gandia and that allows that all programmed activities perfectly function. The cycle ‘Converses amb...’, this year has allowed to listen to Nieves ConcostrinaFernando SimónToni Sánchez ‘Panxo’ and Noah Higón, has reunited almost 200 people daily. While the night concerts have filled all the nights the garden of the Casa de la Marquesa, highlighting the concert of Holistiks that congregated around 300 people.

Despite of the end of the 42nd UEG, the two exhibitions that followed the edition will be able to be visited until September. In the Casa de la Marquesa, can be found the exhibition ‘Paisaje y cambio climático. La transformación de la mirada’ by Calo Carratalá that will be able to be visited until 30 August. At the same time, in the Sala Tossal, until this same date, the sample ‘Los siete velos de Inma Coll’ will be able to be visited.

Therefore, the Summer University of Gandia has showed themselves to be an opportunity to reflect in common and tackle complex topics, listening to diverse voices, from a distended framework and the sight put in the future and the social and cultural reality of the territory.
