Emerging Science, a science dissemination project where the researchers themselves explain their work through short videos, shows the work of Polibienestar, an institute that studies social public policies in order to improve the quality of life. In the videos, you can see eight of these contributions on psychology, political science, sociology or law, among others.

Emerging Science is a project of the Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit that also explains the functioning of the different institutes and mixed centres of the University of Valencia.

On this occasion, it collaborates with the Research Institute on Social Welfare Policies (Polibienestar) located on the Tarongers Campus of the University of Valencia. In the videos you can see part of the staff, doctorate or doctorate candidate, explaining their work at the institute. Thus, both Ascensión Doñate, a graduate in Psychology and a PhD in Social Sciences, and Laura Lobo Medina, a graduate in Social Work, talk about the project about a new perspective on palliative care, focused on improving the quality of life in people with chronic diseases.

Carlos Sierra, a Law graduate and currently a doctoral student, is working on a European-scale project on models for the inclusion of migrants. Tamara Alhambra, specialist in Psychology, explains the research being carried out on aging and the improvement of the conditions of the elderly population. Gertrudis Fornés also deals with aging but in people with Down syndrome and, on the other hand, she explains a project on the promotion of digital skills among healthcare personnel.

Silvia Prieto, a graduate in Communication, Advertising and Public Relations, explains how it is not only done in research, but also in its communication to the market and in the application of all this research. On the other hand, Suelen Almeida and Lidia Bueno explain the study on the impact of infertility in couples who go through the assisted reproduction process, also in relation to parenting, gender roles, and how to apply it to these treatments.

The centre carries out six lines of research (Health, Smart Cities, Tourism, Social Policies, Governance, Economy and Business), technical advice and also training in the field of social policies, and is made up of a multidisciplinary team of people from the fields of psychology, political science, law, sociology and social work.

This new edition is added to the previous ones that are also available on the YouTube channel, where the videos referring to the Institute of Molecular Science (ICMol) and the Institute of Integrative Systems Biology (I²SysBio) are.

Emerging Science is a project of the Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit of the University of Valencia financed by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology, and by the Ministry of Science and Innovation.
