The 2022 edition was carried out in a non-classroom format, from 9:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and consisted of solving three problems, with a time range of 45 minutes for each one. The first two problems were of a theoretical nature and in the third one an experimental case was raised, in which the participants had to carry out the graphic and numerical treatment based on the data provided.

The medals and diplomas of the Spanish Physics Olympiad, and the cash prizes awarded by the Ministry of Education to the top ten finishers are €1,000 for the 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd finishers; €750, for those classified from 4^th to 6^th place; and €500 for those classified from 7^th to 10^th place.

The problems were given sequentially: the first one at 10:30 a.m., the second one at 11:30 a.m., and the third one at 12:30 p.m. The statements are available for download on the website https://rsef.es/olimpiada-espanola-de-fisica.

The University of Valencia –through the Faculty of Physics and the Delegation for University Integration– as well as the Polytechnic University of Valencia were in charge of the local phase –on February 24–, which consisted of a written test of Physics problems and exercises. The baccalaureate students participating in this test are eligible for local prizes, which include, among others, €1,000 if they enrol at the University of Valencia next year.

All the participants in the competition were pre-selected in a preliminary test held last October, which was attended by more than 100 students and received a physics course of more than 72 hours given by teachers from the two universities, prior to the local test of the competition.
