La Nau of the Universitat shows the winning shorts of the last Biennial Woman & Film as the prelude for the 8th edition of the festival

The Cinema Club of the Universitat de València has shown this Tuesday 18 February, at the Aula Magna of La Nau Cultural Centre the five winning shorts of the 2023 Biennial Woman & Film, in the framework of the 8th edition of the festival. The afternoon concluded with a discussion between the contest directors, Giovanna Ribes and Deborah Micheletti, and Professor Awatef Ketiti.

The ‘Woman & Film Special: Winning Shorts of the 7th Biennial, 2023’ session, co-organized by  Aula de la UV and the festival made up the prelude to the 8th Biennial Inauguration this week.

The viewing shorts were Because the Goddess is Never Enough (2022) by Jane Glenne (United Kingdom, 10’), winner of Best Videoart; Mosaic (2022) by Eleonora Berra (Switzerland, 8’), winner of Best Animation; Scars (2020) by Alex Anna (France, 10’), which took a Documentary Special Mention; Écoutez-moi (2021) by Paula Armijo (Spain, 16’) for Best Documentary Short; and North Pole (2022) by Marija Apcevska (Macedonia, 15’), which was awarded Best Fiction Short.

The Woman & Film Association introduced in a press conference on 11 February at the historical building of the Universitat de València this 8th edition of the festival, which will take place from 21 to 28 February in various cultural spaces in the city of Valencia, among them the Rector Peset Residence Hall.

The presentation ceremony counted with the participation (besides those of the Biennial co-directors) of the vice-rector of Culture and Society UV, Ester Alba; stage manager of Cultural Action, Heritage and Cultural Resourced of the Ajuntament de València, José Luis Moreno; representing the Council Department of Equality, Ángela Mena; and creative artist behind the festival figurine, Victoria Cano.
