The ProspectCV 2030 Chair, dependent on the Interuniversity Institute of Local Development (IIDL) of the University of Valencia and the Presidency of the Valencian Government, organises the seminar “Visions of tourism on the post-COVID stage: keys and agenda for a sustainable recovery” on September 29 and 30 virtually at 4:30 p.m.
The Cátedra ProspectCV 2030 Chair aims to know the current state of situations such as population aging, the climate crisis or policies against depopulation, as well as to improve knowledge of its effects, know how to deal with its consequences and put available to public and private actors the best possible contrasted information.
The onset of the pandemic caused by COVID-19 has shaken tourism worldwide. The pandemic has slowed down growth expectations for an activity immersed in a remarkable process of transformation, both of tourism consumption, production and distribution and of its relations with society and the environment. If reflections on the future of tourism were necessary before COVID-19, the uncertainty caused by the pandemic makes them now indispensable and certainly much more complex.
The seminar aims to contribute to the definition of the post-COVID scenario by analysing factors of change that go beyond the current difficult tourist situation and will be decisive in the immediate future, such as the climate emergency or the application from artificial intelligence to tourism. Likewise, these visions of the future are combined with proposals for action, and an applied perspective for the sustainable recovery of tourism through the contrast of experiences at different territorial scales.
