The University Senate approves the 2023 Management Report

The UV Senate, met in ordinary session on 24 July, approved the Management Report and the broad lines for the preparation of the 2025 budget proposal.
Firstly, in accordance with the statutes of the Universitat de València, the Principal delivered her report on the Senate, a speech in which she remembered the more than 150 million euros that the University is allocating to infrastructures, which will be the biggest transformation in the history of the university campuses. She also informed about the LOSU deployment and a total of 149 spots are estimated to be funded by the Ministry of Universities. Lastly, the Principal also recalled the total coverage of the offer of places for undergraduate studies. Thus, over 8,900 spots have been filled with the new undergraduate students.

The agenda of the session also included the election of members for various collegiate bodies, with Professor of Pharmacology Miguel Martí Cabrera being elected as a member of the Claims Committee.
The Principal then transferred the 2023 Management Report for debate, to the University's highest representative and governing body, the Senate. A report that was approved by 136 votes in favour, 7 against and 3 abstentions.
On the report, the Principal pointed out that once again this year the UV is the leading Valencian university, both in absolute and comparative terms. First in teaching, research, publications, citations and culture. A position that also applies to international mobility in Europe and the first in Spain in students with disabilities and in participation and results in sporting competitions.

The Vice-Principal for Economy and infrastructures, Justo Herrera, then presented the general guidelines for the budget proposal for 2025.
He reemphasised the uncertainty, given that it is impossible to know the final situation of the income budge, making planning very difficult, but despite this uncertainty, the UV is committed to providing financial sufficiency for its own activities. This was approved by 112 votes in favour, 6 against and 10 abstentions.
In the open session, Josep Picó, a student from the Faculty of Geography and History, spoke on behalf of the Palestinian encampment.
Manel Vera Aguilar, student of the Faculty of Language Studies, Translation and Communication, spoke on the linguistic configuration of the new portal for enrolment management and academic records of the UV.
Ferran Gasó, student of the Faculty of Biological Sciences spoke about a multilingualism plan for master’s degrees.
Lastly, Laia Darós, a student from the Faculty of Geography and History asked about the disappearance of the La Nau de los Estudiantes programme, and Gloria Graciela Alonso, student of the Faculty of Economics, spoke on future occasions, calling for the resolution of situations that disrupt normality, as was the case with the Palestine encampment.
A group of students from the Palestine encampment protested outside the Aula Magna, alongside a group of members of the PDI Precariado platform.
The senate meeting was broadcast live throughout the university community through its main website, in a signal produced by UVcommunication and produced by the Audiovisual Workshop of the Universitat de València.
