UV becomes Spanish men’s handball champions

The male team of the Universitat de València has won the gold medal in the University Championships celebrated in Murcia (UCAM) on the 3, 4 and 5 of May.

The 16 best university handball teams from all over Spain came together in the sports complexes San Javier, Los Alcázares and Torre Pacheco (Murcia), where they competed for medals over three intense days..

The competition was divided into a group phase with 4 universities in each group. In the male category the Universitat de València was the leader in its group since it defeated The Granada, Barcelona and Extremadura Universities. In the semi-final the UV defeated 21-18 the team from the Castilla la Mancha University. The male handball team from the Universitat de València went into the final undefeated and competed against Málaga with a victory of 31-25.

As for the female team, the girls from the UV competed in the group phase and beat Lleida (23-11) and Navarra (16-13), but could not win the first place as they lost against the organising university of the championship, the UCAM -Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia- with a score or 8-16.
