A cavall entre dos segles
Digital revolution. an intellectual involution? Handbook of journalism in the 21st century.

Summer University courses in Gandia. The digital and audiovisuals journalists in the 21st century face a challenge on which the quality of democracies depends directly. At the turn of the century, the bursting of the dotcom bubble brought with it huge mistakes that led many companies and journalists to equate communication with journalism and the Internet with free admission. In this state of precariousness in the fabric of the media, the battle for democratic quality is being waged: with entertainment and events expanding through programming in a war of the click; the digital battle for audiences. The result is a clear regression in the right to information and freedom of expression. In this scenario, professional journalists and well-informed citizens are more necessary than ever to try to curb totalitarianism and work for healthy and free societies.

Coordinators: Mª Dolores Bañón Castellón. Professor Dept. Theory of Languages and Communication Sciences, Universitat de València and Jesús Maraña, journalist and director of the digital newspaper "Infolibre".
