Isabel Signes Soler, OD, PhD, is an optometrist and researcher and President of Visió Sense Fronteres, a non-governmental organisation based in Calpe (Spain) that she has led for more than 25 years. The organisation is dedicated to the prevention of avoidable blindness and delivers international eye-care programmes — cataract surgery campaigns, visual screening and the provision of spectacles — across countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. She was previously an associate lecturer at the Universitat de València and is currently an Adjunct Researcher at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), Kenya. Her scholarly work spans ophthalmology and visual impairment, intraocular surgery and lenses, and the ocular surface and contact lenses. Within this research collaboration, she co-supervises doctoral research developed with members of the group, contributing her field experience in international eye care and global eye health.
