The aim of this conference was to reflect on the current situation of agri-food cooperatives, the challenges they face and the opportunities they generate at national level. As well as publicising the actions carried out by this Chair.
On 6th April 2022, the Chair of Agri-food Cooperatives of Cooperativas Agroalimentarias de España (Agri-food Cooperatives of Spain) and the Universitat de València (UVchairs) organised a seminar for students of the Universitat de Jaume I (UJI).
The seminar's keynote speech, entitled "What are agri-food cooperatives: the opportunities they offer", was given by Tomás Rojas Pacheco, Financial Director of Cooperativas Agroalimentarias de España.
Mr. Rojas explained the economic and labour reality of the existing agri-food cooperatives in Spain. He encouraged students to take an interest in the agri-food cooperative world. He also encouraged them to submit their work on agri-food co-operatives for the Chair's annual prize for the best research work on agri-food co-operatives.
The conference featured a keynote speech by Pilar Alguacil, professor of Financial Law at the UV and director of the Chair. The session ended with a debate with the attending students.
