The Chair of Agri-food Cooperatives held its 5th annual conference

The Chair of Agri-food Cooperatives of Agri-food Cooperatives of Spain held its 5th annual conference that took place, this year, in Santiago de Compostela.

The Chair of Agri-food Cooperatives of Agri-food Cooperatives of Spain and UV chairs held its 5th annual conference in Santiago de Compostela this year.

Every year, at the start of the term, the Chair organises a conference in which it presents the various activities it has been carrying out and the work it has produced during the previous year.

The opening of the conference, which took place at the Pablo Galego Museum, was attended by the Xunta de Galicia, Director General of Agri-food Cooperatives of Spain Gabriel Trenzado, President of the Galician Association of Agri-food Cooperatives (AGACA) Carmen Rodríguez, and José Manuel Rodriguez, Agrobank’s representative in Western Galicia.

Pilar Alguacil, head of the Chair of Agri-food Cooperatives presented the different activities carried out by the chair over the last year and the activities that are planned for this coming year, in which the Chair will celebrate its 6th anniversary.

During the conference, two of the Chair’s publications were presented. First, Manual Alegre, Tenured Professor of Labour Law and Social Security at the Universitat de València, demonstrated the labour relations in agri-food cooperatives and the casuistry of discontinuous permanent contracts. Next, Daniel Hernández, Doctor in Economic, Business and Legal Sciences at the University of Almería showcased the work titled “The evolution of cooperative integration and its impact on the development of productive alternatives.”

There was a panel discussion under the name “Farming by agri-food cooperatives” in which the following individuals participated: Sagrario Navarro, tenured professor of Commercial Law at the University of Castilla-La Mancha; Raúl Ortega, Nuestra Señora del Pópulo Cooperative; and Andrés Rodríguez, President of VIÑA COSTEIRA Cooperative.

The closing ceremony was attended by the President of Agri-food Cooperatives of Spain Ánglel Villafranca, the Managing Director of the Galician Association of Agri-food Cooperatives (AGACA) Higinio Mougan and the Xunta of Galicia.
