The use of AI in journalistic routines

Researchers from the Universitat de València and the Universitat Jaume I of Castelló are conducting research on the current uses of Artificial Intelligence in newsrooms. This study aims to produce a comprehensive guide that introduces journalists and media professionals to effective use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at work. The study will highlight the opportunities and the ethical challenges associated with AI, as well as the initiatives already implemented in leading national and international media.

This project aims to encourage the ethical and effective use of AI by media professionals, making it a valuable tool to enhance the quality and efficiency of their work in an ever-changing journalistic landscape.

Repository of AI tools for journalism
 

The following section presents a repository, compiled from academic and technical literature, as well statements made by journalists regarding the use of AI in newsrooms. Due to the pace at which AI is developing, this repository will be a work in progress until research is completed. A summary of the AIs identified is also presented, with a maximum of two or three options for each function. The complete catalogue may be found in the associated project guide.
