On March 25 and 26, 2026, the Universitat de València hosted the 20th International Congress of the Network of Universities and Inclusive Education and the 40th Conference on Universities and Inclusive Education. The event brought together more than 300 attendees from various universities and organizations across Spain and Latin America.

The congress is part of the Network of Universities and Inclusive Education (RUEI) and was linked to the INVTEA research group, in particular to the project “Analysis of the Implicit Attitudes of Pre-Service Teachers Towards Inclusive Education and Design of a Proposal of Actions for Attitude Intervention” (CIAICO/2023/11).

During the event, a comprehensive scientific program was carried out, featuring over 200 oral presentations. Among the highlighted lectures were “Accessibility Is Not a Goal: It Is the Beginning of the Path,” by Miguel Ángel Font; contributions from Ximena Vélez and Osvaldo Hernández on experiences and research in Latin America; and the closing lecture by Dino Salinas, titled “Illustrated Notes on School Inclusion”.

Beyond the participation of researchers from the academic field, the congress was established as a pluralistic meeting space that brought together families, teachers, education professionals, social organizations, representatives of the administration, and research staff. This diversity of profiles fostered a rich exchange of experiences and perspectives, reinforcing the collective commitment to inclusive education.

The congress featured several roundtable discussions focused on topics such as early intervention, accessibility, second-chance schools, school coexistence, and technology applied to education. Workshops were also held, including “Friends of Boccia,” artificial intelligence initiatives for inclusion promoted by the Trenca-Dis association, and experiences such as Asindown Radio.

Among the complementary activities were the performance of the Allegro Choir of the Fundació ONCE, a visit to the Hortensia Herrero Art Center, and a meeting of early-career researchers, which encouraged networking and collaboration.

The organizing team highly values the participation in this event, which allowed the sharing of advances, the generation of synergies, and the continued promotion of research in inclusive education. We eagerly look forward to the next edition of the congress in 2028, which will be held at another RUEI member university.
