Valencian experts, with long experience in the training and implementation of national and international projects, will advise on the development of a large free training platform on circular economy in the plastics sector in 6 languages of the European Union.

The European project Vocational Education and Training in Circular Economy (Circvet) begins its journey with the Chair of Transformation of the Economic Model of the Valencian Government and the Universitat de València (GVA-UV), directed by Professor Francesc Hernández, as a member of the advisory board of an initiative that seeks sustainability in the plastics sector and whose results will be applied, at least, in the 6 European countries –France, Italy, Portugal, Germany, Lithuania and Spain– that are part of this project.

Specifically, the work of the GVA-UV Chair of Transformation of the Economic Model, with a long experience in the training and implementation of national and international circular economy projects, is based on advising and monitoring the evolution of the different phases of the project, attending the meetings of the governing board as well as receiving, analysing and commenting on updates related to the evolution and achievement of the project's objectives.

For the director of the GVA-UV Chair, Francesc Hernández, the role of the researchers in the Cirvet project is “another opportunity to contribute to the training and dissemination of a more sustainable production model, in this case of plastics, whose production has grown exponentially in recent decades and whose recycling is a problem for which the European Union is seeking environmentally friendly circular solutions”.

Among the objectives of the project, coordinated by the Instituto Tecnológico de Producto Infantil y Ocio (AIJU), is the development of a large, complete and free training platform on circular economy in the plastics sector in 6 languages of the European Union, covering the entire value chain and adapted to the needs and difficulties faced by this type of companies, as well as creating strong links between universities, vocational training centres and companies.

The members of the 6 countries participating in the project held their first meeting this September in Ibi, in the province of Alicante. The meeting marked the launch of the consortium of entities that will work to ensure that the training they develop can be used not only in companies but also in basic and higher vocational training centres and in undergraduate and master's degrees.
