Information

In July 2019 the European Commission (Erasmus+ programme) approved the creation of a “Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence about Integration and Governance (INTEGO)” in the Universitat de València. The Centre of Excellence is directed by Cecilio R. Tamarit Escalona, Full University Professor of Applied Economics at the Universitat de València and Chair-holder of a Jean Monnet “ad personam” chair for Economic Integration.

The headquarters of the Centre of Excellence are located at the Faculty of Economics of the Universitat de València. It is the result of the collaboration between twelve professors of three Valencian universities, with a total of seven Jean Monnet Chairs: five at the Universitat de València, one at the Universitat Jaume I and one at the Catholic University of Valencia. This collaboration has led to the creation of a unique inter-university institution that generates synergies through a multidisciplinary approach covering all major aspects of European integration. This is done through teaching, research and dissemination activities. To achieve this, the Centre works closely with the European Documentation Centre of the General Foundation of the Universitat de València, as well as with other Valencian political and social institutions.

The purposes of this Centre of Excellence are:

  • Provide teaching and produce high-quality teaching material by using new technologies and pedagogical resources.
  • To develop research programmes on governance, both from an economic (macroeconomic and trade imbalances and their consequences) and institutional (EU values, fundamental and social rights, gender, minorities and migrants) point of view.
  • Promote and carry out dissemination activities (conferences, seminars, panel discussions...).
