Meeting of the 'Tirant' Reading Club to analyse Vicent Usó's novel Les veus i la boira

Journalist Bernat Sequeral could not have foreseen that his death would be linked to the mystery of his mother's empty coffin. Thus, twenty years later, when his son, Mateu, decides to resume the fateful investigation, Bernat's widow, Mateu's mother, strongly opposes the idea.

But Mateu Sequeral has made up his mind. In an attempt to unravel the mystery left behind by his father, the young man delves into a perilous web of love stories, murder, family secrets, smugglers and blackmarketeers and urban speculators. The investigation spans from Mallorca in the height of the tourist boom to the French Pyrenees to Peñiscola in the 40s and 50s. Yet, the heart of the story lies in the Columbrete Islands, a unique natural setting, home to pirates, lighthouse keepers and smugglers, that lends its  charm to the novel.

In "Les veus i la boira", which won the Alfonso el Magnánimo València Prize Award for Narrative, Vicent Usó traces the events of the last seventy years of the 20th century through the perspectives of various characters, some of whom may be less truthful than others.
