Professor Irene Córdoba has won a Granada RAJYL Award

On 23 June 2026, the yearly “Jurisprudence and Legislation Royal Academy” (RAJYL) of Granada Awards published the winners for the best project in different fields. The award-winners will attend the ceremony, which the RAJYL of Granada will celebrate during the 2026-2027 academic year, to pick up their awards.

Irene Córdoba Mochales, author of “La protección del cliente ante la perfección del contrato de seguro”, has received the Luis de Angulo Rodríguez Award, which is funded by Fundación Mutualidad.

Irene Córdoba Mochales is a tenure-track 1 lecturer in the Department of Mercantile Law “Manuel Broseta Pont” of the Universitat de València and she is also a member of the University Institute of Patrimonial Law (Patrimonium) from the UV. Moreover, she is part of the "Modern Insurance Law” research project.

She graduated from the Universitat de València in the Double degree in Law and Criminology, as well as in the Master’s degree in Legal Practice and Representation from this same university. She defended her doctoral thesis “La protección del cliente ante la perfección del contrato de seguro”, for which she received a cum laude mark. During the 2022-2023 academic year, she was on a research placement at the Institut Suisse de Droit Comparé in Lausana, Switzerland.

“Jurisprudence and Legislation Royal Academy of Granada" Awards

This is part of a selection of different awards from the RAJYL, the goal of which is to honour distinguished jurists from this very entity. Other awards from this selection include: Luis Portero García Award to Damián Tuset Varela, the Luis Pérez-Serrabona y Sand Award to Rafael Esteban Nieto, and the Eduardo Roca Roca Award to Jorge Vílchez Trujillo.

The Jurisprudence and Legislation Royal Academy of Granada also granted awards in the academic field: Best Academic Record Transfer Award (Antonio Joaquín Rico Díaz), Best Doctoral Thesis in Public Law Award (Belén Burgos Garrido) and the Best Doctoral Thesis in Private Law Award (Pablo Manuel Melgarejo), as well as the Outstanding Notary Association Award of Andalusia, which was granted by this same organisation to Antonio José Vela Sánchez.
