This project is included in international studies on travel literature, cultural topography, and imagology. In contrast to with former research, focused on Spanish anthropological images, the project extended the analysis to landscape descriptions and cultural perception of space. It was aimed at reconstructing the physical, intellectual, and mental map of the German travellers who went all over Spain, specially from the 18th century, through the comparative study of the most visited places, routes, and landscapes in their stories. For this purpose, bibliographic and archival documentation, and critical analysis were combined, attending to the way these travellers transformed Spanish territory into a cultural topography full of meanings.
