Spanish and Spanish American image in German-speaking travel literature

Imagological construction of Spain in the German-speaking women’s odeporic: systematisation from a gender perspective

This project studies Spanish image construction in travel stories written by German-speaking women specially, in the 19th and 20th centuries. Its main objective is to recover, document, and systematise a corpus yet unexplored, analysing it from an imagological and gender perspective. The project enables to observe how these travellers describe landscape, society, daily life, and female roles, and how they question Spanish imaginaries inherited from European travel tradition.
