The project studied the presence of Valencia in stories of German travellers of the 18th and early 19th centuries. Through literary, documentary, and cultural sources, it was analysed how the city and its environment were perceived, described and interpreted by these travellers, paying attention to the image construction on landscape, society, traditions, and local identity. The outstanding results include the translation developed by the group of the work by Christian August Fischer, Gemälde von Valencia, published in Spanish with the title Cuadro de Valencia, which enabled to make one of the most relevant testimonies of the early-nineteenth-century Valencia available for the public.
