Group LAP members gather in a two-day research seminar to debate on the concept of ‘literary geographies’ as applied to women in the theatre industry of the nineteenth century and beyond.

Topics to be discussed in the seminar include: the dancing geographies of the nineteenth century and the concept of place and displacement on the Victorian popular stages. Contributors will also debate on palimpsestic urban geographies, traumascapes, cartographies of black experience, ethics, conflict, interartistic adaptations, affects and care, botany and intertextuality in dialogue with the wide notion of literary geographies.

On Tuesday 15 Juan Pérez Moreno (UV) will join us with a training session on open access publishing and Spanish universities.

On Wednesday 16 Ian Rickson will join us in conversation with Laura Monrós-Gaspar on his recent production London Tide (NT, 2024) based on Charles Dickens’ Our Mutual Friend.
