Since 1996 the Marine Zoology Unit has organised the biannual European Seminars on Marine Mammals: Biology and Conservation at the València campus of the Menéndez Pelayo International University.
The seminars are given by prestigious European specialists in a wide variety of areas (Reproduction, Eating Habits, Genetics, Toxicology, Pathology, Parasitology, Camp Techniques, Populations, Protected Areas, Legal Aspects, etc.) and have attracted in the past editions students from Europe, Africa, Asia and America.
