The Marine Zoology Unit is a research group of the Cavanilles Institute of Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology of the Universitat de València. The unit has shown a great capacity to attract external funding to pursue its scientific objectives. The Unit has a long record of international cooperation.
The research lines are limited to two main topics: conservation biology of large marine vertebrates, mainly mammals and sea turtles, and parasitology of marine vertebrates. The Marine Zoology Unit has new and modern facilities and shares a building with the Experimental Aquaculture Plant of the Universitat de València.
Currently, the Marine Zoology Unit is made up of a full university professor, three tenured university professors, three full-time lecturers (PhD), a significant number of visiting researchers and postdoctoral researchers, senior and mid-level research technicians and PhD students, making up a team of more than 20 people.
