Culture for legal Mediation chair

The Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) refers to a series of procedures, including legal mediation, that have proven their effectiveness as participatory ways through which people can manage their disagreements, thus promoting a culture of peace and dialogue. Likewise, access to this means of dispute management contributes to the diversion of conflicts, which has a positive impact on the performance of the justice system.

The new Institutional Chair in Culture for Legal Mediation between the Universitat de València and the Valencian Department of Justice, Interior and Public Administration consolidates the leadership of the Valencian Community in the implementation of this form of alternative justice which, in the last two years alone, has taken on more than 1,500 cases which, if they had gone to court, would have cost around 1.9 million euros.

Faced with a culture of litigation that has accompanied us through centuries of legal history, the institution of legal mediation emerges as a great model of social pacification adaptable to all types of conflict that also allows us to work on the values necessary for the society we live in: reducing social conflict, the ability to take responsibility for one's own actions, as well as the promotion of equality and solidarity between people.
