The PERTE Chip-UV Chair of Advanced Materials for the Microchip and Semiconductor Industry was created in 2024 as a strategic initiative within the framework of the PERTE Chip, with the support of the Universitat de València, business entities and the specialised cluster Valencia Silicon Cluster. Its main goal is to drive research, innovation and technological development in advanced materials applied to microelectronics, with the purpose of strengthening the chip industry in the Valencian Community, favouring technological autonomy at a national and European level.
Endowed with funds from the 'Chip Chairs' of the PERTE Chip, the Chair represents a commitment to consolidate an educational, researcher and transfer ecosystem that integrates both university and company. It is aimed at the development of new materials and devices as well as the industrial integration, seeking to respond the challenges of efficiency, sustainability, productive capacity, and quality needed to compete in the global market.
With this Chair, the Universitat de València aims to attract highly qualified talent, encouraging specialised education in microchips and semiconductors, and promoting collaborations with technological companies. We want to drive leading lines of work, to create laboratories and our own spaces of innovation, and generating a multiplier effect on local economy, strengthening the position of the Valencian Community as centre of microelectronics excellence.
