Description

This diploma is aimed at undergraduates, graduates and university graduates interested in the teaching and learning of English and, on the other hand, at practising teachers of Early Childhood Education, Primary Education and Secondary Education who wish to develop their knowledge and improve their practice in the teaching of English and the promotion of multiliteracies.

This postgraduate course presents literature and multimodality as fundamental elements in the teaching and learning of English in the 21st century to provide students with the opportunity to develop their literacy, not only in terms of basic reading and writing skills, but as a process of mediation to facilitate interaction with different types of texts, and to foster the production of meaning and knowledge of the world.

Novels, animated short films, images, music, picture books, etc. are resources and modes of expression that are constantly used for communicative, socio-cultural or artistic purposes. In line with the proposal of the Pedagogy of Multiliteracies (New London Group 1996), we conceive reading and the creation of meaning as a dynamic process of transformation that must take place in language teaching from preschool education to secondary education.
