Description

The Supramolecular Chemistry group focuses its research work on the synthesis and characterisation of polynitrogen compounds, as well as on the study of their interaction with metal ions, anions and neutral species. Special attention is dedicated to the study of systems of environmental and/or biological interest. In particular, to the development of molecules and/or complexes with antioxidant and/or anti-inflammatory, antiparasitic and/or antitumour activity. In order to prepare more efficient systems, the implementation of molecules on different solid surfaces such as nanoparticles, mesoporous solids, etc. is studied. These systems are applied to the detection of compounds of environmental interest and the development of new types of drugs. Finally, new compounds for nuclear magnetic resonance imaging are prepared and studied.

Goals CT
  • Development of compounds with antioxidant, antiparasitic and antitumour activity.
  • Detection and restructuring of compounds with environmental interest.
Research lines
  • Enzyme mimics

To develop different compounds or families of compounds whose purpose is the mimicry of enzymatic active centres.

  • Anion recognition

Development and synthesis of compounds capable of recognising anions of biological and/or environmental interest.

  • Synthesis of polyamides

To synthesise different families of Polyamine/Polyamide compounds by new or already established synthetic routes for the development of the different lines of research.

  • Contrast agents

Development of new compounds capable of acting as contrast agents in biomedicine.

  • Modification of solid surfaces

Development of oxide nanoparticles and their functionalisation with different receptors for catalysis, pharmacological application.

  • Biomimetic chemistry of copper. Application to NMR

Study of biomimetic compounds and copper enzymes by paramagnetic NMR.
