Description

Driven by the Council of Torrent and the technicians of its Municipal Sports Foundation, the first edition of the "Introduction to Nordic Walking" program for older adults, has been developed between October 2022 and April 2023.

The program (with over 120 older adults from Torrent) has been conducted by CAFyD technicians specialized in training older adults, and supported at a scientific level by the UIRFIDE GIUV 2013-140 Research Group.

During 8 weeks, the sessions took place in the Central Park of Torrent and its surroundings. Classes were held three days a week, in the evening, starting at the "Kiosko" a sport information-point developed for "OLD ADULTS IN ROUTE"! that has been created expressly at the Torrent Sports Center.
The City Council has made three timetables and developed the intervention in two phases to guarantee the quality and safety of the adults in the sessions.

On Monday, May 15, Torrent Town Hall will deliver the results of the pre-post program evaluation reports for all adults who have participated in at least 70% of the classes.
