El objetivo del trabajo es aplicar la metodología de redes sociales a la identificación de las relaciones que se establecen entre las categorías de la clasificación temática del Journal Citation Reports®, Social Sciences Edition. Estas relaciones permitirán a su estudiar a su vez la interdisciplinariedad que se da entre las ciencias sociales recogidas en la mencionada fuente de información. Conocer a priori las categorías temáticas más próximas a la clase o epígrafe objeto de una búsqueda bibliográfica puede servir para refinar el proceso de búsqueda bibliográfica con el que comienza una investigación científica. El análisis de redes sociales se ha realizado con el programa UCINET versión 6 bajo licencia y la representación del gráfico de red con el software Netdraw. El Análisis de Redes resulta muy útil y adecuado para identificar las relaciones existentes entre las categorías de la clasificación temática del JCR y que sirve además para objetivar la interdisciplinariedad que se da entre las ciencias sociales recogidas en la mencionada fuente de información. La importancia estratégica de una materia determinada no puede valorarse exclusivamente por su tamaño, su rango,intermediación, y cercanía son muy importantes, y esto es clave en las materias más jóvenes dentro de un área temática. Conocer las disciplinas más cercanas a la disciplina científica en la que se encuadra un determinado problema de investigación puede ayudar a una concepción multidimensional del problema propia de la interdisciplinariedad.
He objective of the paper is to apply social networks methodology to identify the relations established between the categories of the classification of the Journal Citation Reports®, Social Sciences Edition. These relations will allow his to study the interdisciplinary between collected in this source of information. To know the subject categories close to the item which is the object a bibliographic search can help to refine search. Software UCINET and Netdraw is used to process the matrix and the graphs of networks. The usefulness and suitability of network analysis to identify the existing relations between the categories of the thematic classification of the JCR is proved. Also to show the interdisciplinary that occurs between the sciences collected in that database. The strategic importance of a subject cannot be valued exclusively by its size. Its degree, betweenness, and closeness are very important, and these are key factors in the youngest subjects within a thematic area. To know the nearests subjects to the specific one in which a certain research problem is fitted can help to face the problem with a multidimensional and interdisciplinary conception of it.
