Huellas. Spanish Journal on Slavery, Colonialism, Resistances and Legacies was conceived with the purpose of publishing original and innovative academic articles on slavery and colonialism in their in their many facets, on the resistance and emancipation movements that led to the formation of new historical figures, and on their contemporary cultural, social and political legacies in both their material and/or symbolic dimensions, in Spanish, Catalan and English. The spirit of this project is one of interdisciplinary nature, encompassing perspectives from the fields of anthropology, literature, archaeology, history, art history, sociology, philosophy, cultural and visual studies, and political theory. This interdisciplinary spirit aims to acknowledge subaltern histories and address the current reverberations of the past. It also embraces an analysis of empirical case studies or conceptual formations with the aim to critically asses the ways in which historical structures of perception, biopolitics, and necropolitics survive in our immediate present, and to enable the projection of “other” futures.
