Doctoral student Felipe Franco Campos carried out a research stay from 29 April to 2 August at the Advanced Centre for Chronic Diseases (ACCDiS), part of the Faculty of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Chile, under the supervision of Dr Marcelo Kogan.
During his stay, the PhD student worked on the development of inclusion complexes with magnetic nanoparticles to capture and remove the pesticide amitraz after exposure to human neuroblastoma cells (SH-SY5Y). This innovative strategy has the potential to be applied to the removal of other pesticides and mycotoxins relevant to our research group.
The stay was important both for the development of Felipe Franco's PhD thesis and for the initiation of an important international collaboration with Dr Kogan's research team.
