Study on therapeutic exercise and electrical stimulation in people with subacromial pain syndrome

The aim of this study is to evaluate the improvement of shoulder pain and functionality in people with subacromial pain syndrome.

What does the intervention consist of?

  • The sessions are composed of the application of electrical stimulation and therapeutic exercise. Electrical stimulation is a method that has been used successfully in the clinic to improve non-specific chronic pain, low back pain, fibromyalgia, stroke, osteoarthritis and postoperative pain.
  • The sessions are supervised by a physiotherapist.
  • The duration of the intervention programme is 8 weeks and will be carried out 3 days per week (1 hour per session).
  • In addition, there will be three evaluations (before, after and 12 weeks after treatment) to monitor the effects (1 hour).
  • Registration is free of charge.


Who can participate?

  • Candidates must meet the following criteria:
  • Be between 18 and 65 years old.
  • Be diagnosed with subacromial syndrome.
  • Have pain in one shoulder for more than 3 months.
